How to apply...  
1. Applying For A Glendale Latino Scholarship
All materials must be mailed, postmarked March 8, 2013 or earlier, or hand-delivered to the Community Foundation of the Verdugos' office by March 8, 2013. Do not use registered or certified mail as this will delay the processing of your application.

You can apply for any scholarship you meet the criteria for; there is no limit. Carefully review the Scholarship Guidelines to see which scholarship criteria best matches you and which scholarships have a separate application. Complete one (1) original application and check off those scholarships you are applying for. Make additional application packets for each scholarship you are applying for by photocopying the original application. At the top right-hand corner of the application, mark which specific scholarship the copy of the application applies to.

3. Personal Essay
Submit a Personal Essay on a separate piece of paper and enclose it with your application (this information will not be published or shared beyond the CFV Scholarship Committees). For your Personal Essay, you may choose option A or B.
1. Submit your favorite College Application Essay that tells about yourself.

2. Write a Personal Essay. The Personal Essay will enable us to learn what is important to you and what motivates you. Your essay should discuss your background, goals, why these goals are important to you, and how and why you believe you will achieve them. Remember, we read your essay to find out more about you - so please take your time and compose a clear essay. Your essay should be at least 1-2 pages and typed or neatly handwritten.
4. Personal Biography
One 50-Word Personal Biography that you would like to see reproduced in publication if you are selected for a scholarship award. This personal biography may be published in a newspaper. See below for an example of the format of the Personal Biography:

My name is Jane Doe and I currently attend Glendale High School. I have been awarded a scholarship from the Community Foundation of the Verdugos. I plan to attend UCLA where I will major in Child Development and focus on teaching. I would like to become an elementary school teacher because I enjoy working with children. At Glendale High I was involved in swimming and AVID.

5. Academic Transcripts
Submit all Academic Transcripts. The transcript must include all of 10th, 11th and the first semester of 12th (if available) grades and all SAT I and SAT II scores. Students should also submit transcripts for classes taken at a college, if these grades are not posted on the high school transcript. If your school has not yet recorded your SAT scores on your transcript, then submit a copy of the SAT score report.
6. Academic Recommendation Letter
Submit one (1) Academic Recommendation Letter. The letter of recommendation may be from a recent teacher or guidance counselor. The teacher/counselor may either mail the letter directly to Community Foundation of the Verdugos or may give the letter to the student in a sealed envelope to include with the application.
7. Employer/ Supervisor Recommendation Letter
Submit one (1) Employer/Supervisor Recommendation Letter. If you have never been employed, you are still required to complete this obligation. Think about other activities-have you done community service, provided childcare, assisted at your church or synagogue, or participated in an organized activity or sport? Ask a supervisor in one of these alternate activities or an employer to write a recommendation letter.
8. Interview
Qualified applicants of Glendale Latino Association Scholarship, will be considered for a personal interview, which will likely occur at your school or the Central Public Library. If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted by phone or U.S. mail.
9. All Other Her Applicants Will Be Notified Of Their Status By U.S. Mail.
